ABSTRACT:

The objective of this research is to test and analyze the effect of company size, profitability, growth opportunity, compensations program for executive manager, business risk and payment of dividends to leverage. Object of this research is consumer goods industry listed in Indonesian Stock Exchange from period 2008 until 2012. There are 13 companies suitable with the criterias and took as samples. The samples of this research collected using purposive sampling. The resource data are taken from factbook which is took from Indonesian Stock Exchange website. The statistical method used in this research is multiple regression. Results of this research indicated that only size and growth opportunity that have influence to leverage, whereas the other factors such as profitabilty, compensations program for executive manager, business risk and payment of dividends have no influence on leverage.
